Is there a way to mute the second channel of audio in the viewer (before the clip goes into the sequence)?

I have interview footage shot on a 7D. One channel of audio is coming in from the mic and the second channel is loud static. Is there a way for me to view my interviews and edit out of the viewer without hearing that loud static channel? I cant figure out how to mute channel 2 in the viewer....(Final Cut Pro 7) This is making it impossible for me to edit my interviews. Any help would be much appreciated!

I believe if you view the Audio for the clip in the Inspector, you can set the Audio to be dual Mono, then you can remove the check mark next to the channel you don't want to hear. Do this with the clip in the Event Browser and it should apply to all the instances where you use the clip from that point forward.
