Change page order in pages

I have a document in Page Thumb Nails veiw.

I want to be able to 'select' a page and move it to a different place in the sequence of pages.

When I try and highlight the individual page, Pages selects all the pages.

Can I / how do I select only one page then move it?

Thanks is advance

You are using a Word Processing document. All pages together is a section. In Word processing the easiest is to Cut and Paste the part you want to move. You do not move the page per se.

You can also insert section breaks, one before and one after the part you wan to move but i think it is a overkill. If you do this you can then move the"page" thumbnail to the beginning or the end of the document or you have to add section break where you want to put the page.

David,

Clicking on a page in the Thumbnails pane wlll take you to that page in the document. Click at the top of that page's content, and Shift-Click at the bottom. Command-X to move the content to the Clipboard. Click on the thumbnail just above where you want to reposition the text. Click at the bottom of that page and Command-V.

Now your content should be in the new location.

You should practice on a copy to avoid disaster.

Ann,

Each object, such as a picture, has an attribute that defines this behavior. In the Wrap Inspector, and on the Format Bar, you can select Floating or Inline. A Floating object hovers above (for the purpose of this explanation) the text, unaffected by the flow of the text and therefore maintains its position relative to the page. An Inline object flows with the text and therefore moves up or down the page as the text moves.

No, you don't need to have a blank page for cut and page, or for select and move the teat. You will have the insertion point where you can paste or move text to. The text/content behind that point will move down an make room for the pastes/moved text. If needed pages will automatically be added. This is the beauti of a word processor. It seems few knows about it nowadays.

Re change page sort order in Pages 5/Newsletter nt WP document. ( have 2 phones, one pad, one laptop and an iMac, all running latest OS/iOS)

Based on my experience, other comments, in Pages 5, you can't change the thumbnail sort order in the left pane. Bummer bcause I am doing a Newsletter and require this.

One post said take the pages 5 document and export it to Pages 09, that does work,

One other post said: after you export to 09, then open document, does that OK, yet the sort thumbnail pages in the left pane, does not work, will have to test. If true means always open 09, and best to remove Pages 5 from all devices, then reload when they fix it. Tho not sure how to get back to old pages on my iPad,

Thanks for the wisdom
