Q: A required iTunes component is not installed 42404 with iTunes 10 after update

Hi,

So I updated last night to the latest iTunes and now whenever I start the program I get this error:

A required iTunes component is not installed... - 42404...

I've tried uninstalling and deleting the iTunes preferences but it keeps on popping up. I can't sync my iPhone with it like this. Should I reinstall the Mobile Device stuff?

Sometimes this one indicates that your FairPlay is broken, but other components might be dodgy.

Let's try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Does that help with your 42404?

I did this a couple of minutes ago and it should have worked but I got an error that iTunes was not installed properly. I fixed this by doing another complete reinstall. Thanks

Hi i'm having the same problem happening to me with itunes 10.3, I have uninstalled everything to do with itunes and reinstalled it but it's still coming up saying it. What can I do?
