Does iMessage waste more battery then Plain Texting?Does iMessage waste more battery then Plain Texting?Does iMessage waste more battery then Plain Texting? I figured it might it uses 3G and WiFi and I lose battery like crazy it is not connected to my other iOS devices though.

SMS (regular text messages) do not require a data connection. The messages are sent over your phone connection, so they can be sent even if you turn off cellular data or are in an area where you are not getting data coverage.


MMS (messages that include pictures or sound) and iMessages require active data connections (Edge, 3G, or Wi-Fi), and so by definition use more battery.
