Am I wrong in thinking that this could be one of the 'paid updates' that were mentioned earlier in the year?

    Karsten,

This is the Post Jobs, Apple.

I think Apple will be listening to it's base and actually doing what they want.

Steve did what he wanted and the **** with the end user. His way or the High Way!

Or it is just one of the features additions that they promised on day one of releasing FCPX. No cinicism needed...

The Devil's Advocat in me arguments:

it is summarized under 'updates' = free, not upgrade= $$$

    Touché Karsten...

I don't see either update or upgrade. It just says coming in 2012. I suspect it depends on how sales are going. If the numbers are weak and I don't see any indication that they would be, it will be an update. I suspect it will be an upgrade 10.1.

  • bill33 Level 1 Level 1 (40 points)

I almost agree -- it should definitely be an upgrade not directly related to sales, because the inherent reason for the drop in sales are the problems within the current FCPX which I think most would agree seems to be like a beta version. So an upgrade is necessary to even reach their initial goals. There is a lot of room for improvement and they'll only see sales increase be regaining confidence in lost customers and forums!

    "drop in sales"

Where are you seeing this and how are you quantifying that?

  • bill33 Level 1 Level 1 (40 points)

OK, You are correct, I have not seen it anywhere and have not quantified it by direct research and analysis. It is purely opinion based. So, I'll re-word the previousby by replacing it with the following: the "hypothetical drop in sales" I don't know that the sales have dropped, but I do read a lot of forums and posts. The general feeling, consensus, and conclusion I respectfully draw is that people are not completely satisfied.

I myself am not completely satisfied. I love the program, it's new philosophy and it's forward looking technology/capabilities, however I have to say and there are many in agreement with me - that it needs a lot of tweaking. It needs multiple improvement for the consumers that have paid for FCPX already and not only if sales are dropping or not.

Its like buying a car with a faulty radio, or a faulty HUD display that you paid for - you can still drive, but every now and then when you rev up the RPM the engine seizes....

I'm not talking about new features, rather about specific features that are currently inherent in the program that dont function efficiently or correctly. (I dont think I need to specifiy which and what, just take a look at the forum)

I'm hangin' in their and have weighed my business in on this role of the dice with FCPX - and Apple is obliged to provide full support and fixes of everything they have sold us regardless of the market. Support, R&D, trouble shooting, bug fixes, etc.. should be and hopefully were taken in to account prior to the release of FCPX.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Tsolakidis
