Magic Trackpad - "Tap to Click" problem

I've just bought a magic trackpad for my iMac, It's great except "Tap to Click" doesn't work on the login screen. Once I get past the login screen all gestures work fine. If I use fast user switching to change user, "tap to click" no longer works but all other gestures continue to work fine. So I have to plug the usb mouse back in to continue using the computer. Any solutions? or do i take it back to the shop? Maybe it's not so magic after all...

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Tap to Click is a user option so it doesn't take effect until after Login. It must be set for each user since it's not system wide.

Edit: Use the Physical click on the trackpad at login and to set "tap to click" on the other user. Push down on the lower left side of the trackpad.

I have this problem also.

With one user I am able to adjust the magic trackpad settings, such as Tap to Click or Scroll Direction: Natural. When I switch to another user login, I can "check" the boxes to change the settings, but they don't take effect. So I am unable to use Tap to Click, Scroll Direction:Natural, or any other non-default setting on this one user login.

Any thoughts? I've tried rebooting, resetting, etc to no avail

Well I solved my own problem, although to be honest it makes no sense to me why this worked:

I went into Trackpad settings for the user where Tap to Click etc wasn't working. I unchecked Tap to Click and Secondary Click and then re-checked them. For some reason it worked. Weird but I'm happy now. Note that I saw this suggestion in another forum also so apparently this worked for someone else too
