How do I access my yahoo e-mail?

I set the iPad up to access my yahoo e-mail account but it says the account may not be able to send or receive e-mail and there are no messages in the Inbox, It later displays a message that it cannot connect to the yahoo server. Meanwhile, on my PC, I'm connected to the yahoo server and e-mail is working fine. Why can't the iPad get at that account on yahoo?

Do you have access to the internet on your iPad? How did you set up your mail account on your iPad? Not that you didn't do it correctly, but the best way to set it up is to go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on the right side you'll see Add Account. Touch it. Choose Yahoo, the enter your Name, Email Address, Password and what you want to call the account, such as Bobby's Yahoo. Once you're done entering everything correctly, it should verify and you'll see check marks letting you know your account has successfully set up. Again, you need internet access to do this properly.......

Yes, I have access to the Internet. Other things like youtube, etc. work. I attempted to set up yahoo e-mail as you described but after I enter the user name, etc. for the Yahoo e-mail account, I get the error message that asks if I still want to save those settings because I might not be able to send or receive mail.


If I save the settings and click Next, it shows an empty Yahoo Inbox and later displays a message that it can't connect to the Yahoo server----even though the iPad is connected to the Internet and the Yahoo server is up.


I did read elsewhere something about making sure you enable some option on the yahoo server that saves e-mail on the server so that other devices can access them but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that on Yahoo mail.

I'm stumped. I don't recall ever having to make any changes on the Yahoo server.


Try this. First, if you've added yahoo as a mailbox, go into Settings > Mail and delete the Yahoo entry. Then click out of settings to your home page. I'd suggest you reboot your iPad. Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart. You won't lose any data or settings.


Then try to add your Yahoo mailbox again. I know this is a stupid question, but you are using your correct email address and password? This time skip the box that asks for your name and just type in your email address and password. You can put anything you want in the Last box. Like your name and Yahoo, or just Yahoo.


If this doesn't help, I hope someone else will chime in as I'm out of suggestions.

Ok, I give up. I shut down, rebooted, and added the yahoo e-mail account again, but when it goes off to verify the info it comes back and says Yahoo server not available. However, I used Safari on the iPad to go to yahoo home page and then clicked Mail and logged in successfully to my yahoo e-mail account (and server) with the same user name and password I have been providing to iPad.


So, for some reason, yahoo doesn't like my iPad trying to connect to the same yahoo mail account (and server) that my PC is connected to even though the PC and the iPad are using the same Internet connection and same login info.Maybe iPad has some kind of firewall issue with yahoo?
