My iPad sound works fine for video and music but on many games like angry birds and others there is no sound. Yes I made sure the games weren't on mute.
I would try force quitting the apps using the multitasking bar first.
If that doesn't work I would try a restart and a reset.
I have the same issue. In addition, game sound works through the headsets but not through the iPad speakers.
The games are not on mute, but system sounds on the pad are muted. If you have the side switch set to mute(as oppoed to rotate) flip it and see it the sounds are back. If you have the side swith set on rotation, then double tap the home button, swipe all the way to the left, and change the mute there.
The mute function only controls system sounds, not music or videos. Some games use those sounds for game play. You can be muted and never even notice in general usage, until you notice the lack of sounds from a game.
I figured it out. Double click the home button, scroll to the left and unmute the sound icon. My games worked after that. Good luck
I have run across this issue with my iPhone and a number of friends iPads - simply plug in headphones, then unplug - repeat a few times and the issue goes away.
