my text message conversations are showing up on our kid's phones and my daughter's texts to me show up as if they are from me.

my text message conversations with my husband are showing up on our kids phones. my daughter's text messages to me show up as if they are from myself and I can only text her as if Im texting myself. if i text to her phone # she doesnt get them. Really strange.

The probable cause is that you are sending messages using iMessage (text messages routed as data instead of SMS) and have configured all the phones to use the same ID. In that case, whenever you send a message, it goes to all the devices that are configured to receive messages at the given ID.


The fix, got to Settings > Messages


Then, either turn iMessage off and Send as SMS on (in which case, all messages go to the destination phone number via SMS and the messages count against your provider's SMS messages plan).


... OR - Click on the 'Receive At' button and select the phone's number and remove the e-mail address that's shared between the phones.
