Flat and Sharp symbols

Before I reinstalled my operating system, I could display flat and sharp symbols in iTunes which was really nice for saving space. I could write, for instance, "Symphony in B♭" instead of "Symphony in B Flat." For whatever reason I can no longer do that; instead I just get a little box. Any idea how I fix this? Thanks

In addition to not being able to pull of the flat sign in iTunes, I can no longer get in in Word either (I get the same box), and I used to be able to use it. I cut and paste the flat sign (♭) from the online version of a printer-friendly article from the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. I can still cut and paste to internet stuff like this, but not to word or iTunes, and it is started to make me upset.

That little box, of course, means that that particular symbol is not in the current font that iTunes is using. Not sure what happened there, but as you did a reinstall of Windows, I would guess that maybe, somehow, somewhere, that particular font did not get the word that it needed to reapply itself. I can't for the life of me remember what the default font for iTunes is. It gets mentioned around here every now and again (often in the OS X area for iTunes), but right now I'm at a loss.

What happens if you have iTunes re-run it's installer without uninstalling it? Choose the repair option and see if that doesn't put the needed font in there for you. Of course...it's possible you told Windows not to put it back in. Maybe check that the ever popular "wingdings" is installed. Don't have my PC available right now, but on my iBook it's in with the symbols that are similar to that set.

Looks sorta like Lucida Sans Unicode, to me. Might make sure you have that font installed.

Also might want to go to Windows Update and make sure you have all of the available updates installed. Always a good idea, really.
