Q: can't sync iphone to iphoto anymore

ever since updating to the newest itunes and getting itunes match and icloud all on my phone, now when i connect my phone to my computer, it doesn't show up on iphoto.

so now how in the world am i ever suppose to get videos off my camera roll?! this makes no sense! it's like they just thought that by giving us photo stream we wouldn't have to connect to our computer anymore with icloud too. but nothing takes into consideration videos. videos don't sync on the icloud, videos don't transfer wirelessly on itunes, and i can't connect my phone to my computer anymore to open up iphone and get videos off my phone.

APPLE HAS MADE THIS THE MOST COMPLICATED PHONE YET!

The more logical way to get the movies into the Mac is with iMovie.

If you have your phone connected via the cable and launch iMovie, click the import (video camera icon), center, left of screen, you can import your iphone movies. And yes, this does work given all the current versions of Apple software you're mentioning.

but the more logical way of getting them into iphoto would be to just use iphoto.

your answer is a good work around for a problem that hasn't been addressed or resolved yet.

i keep my videos on iphoto, and i've always been able to import them from iphoto. why would i all of a sudden have to import my videos using a video editing program, then move them over to iphoto?

I'm sorry about my somewhat insulting opening sentence

I can see the frustration of having something change and there appears to be no kind of notice about it or how to deal with it. Hopefully someone else viewing here may have insight if they are taking iPhone video to iPhoto.

That is because you enabled Photo Stream, so the photos are being input into iPhoto for you automatically (supposed to be anyway).

you point out exactly where in that page it says 'when you turn photo stream on, you will no longer be able to connect your iphone via usb to your computer to pull off videos in iphoto'

show me where it says that and i'll admit you made some sort of valid point.

Sorry, I'm going to back off from this thread after this point. Honestly, I clearly don't know with certainty the answer to video in iPhoto. That wasn't the goal of sending you the link.

What I was trying to answer was this frim your prior, prior post:

"when i connect my phone via usb and open up iphoto, it doens't recognize my phone! i can't even pull off photos!" I was trying to suggest why you can't pull off photos.

Also, in this first paragraph of that prior, prior post you said:

"it's not just getting video to iphoto, it's getting ANYTHING to iphone!" I assume you meant the last word to be iPhoto, not iPhone.

    Sorry for communication breakdown.

    Good luck.

Go into your iPhone iCloud settings and turn OFF Photostream.

Also go into iPhoto preferences and turn off Photostream.

Your iPhone will appear and work as it previously did. Takes 30 seconds or so to show up...but it works!

    Good luck!

My iphone icloud is off, my iphoto photostream is not enabled. My iphone still does not show up in iphoto. How is everyone transferring their iphone photos into iphoto these days? Is everyone doing it on icloud only? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Same problem here. I'm not using iCloud for backup, Photostream is not enabled. I have not changed any settings since the last time I imported photos to iPhoto. But since a week or so ago, iPhoto no longer shows my iPhone as an available device. What's changed here?

I tried the removal of the Photo Cache, as per link http://leimobile.com/faq-how-to-fix-ios-5-photo-sync-issues/

But ... not such file in my package contents. plus trying to photos Off iPhone and into iPhoto using usb.

The problem is "Photos in the Camera Roll on "iPhone" cannot be viewed or imported because the iPhone is locked with a passcode." I have no passcode on my iPhone

Hi, all and thanks for reading.

I have a problem, and cannot get my photos off my iPhone 5, 10.0.2, ...  using iPhoto 08, on my Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I normally download my photo's in the iPhone 5, camera roll, using iPhoto 08, and usb plugged into MAC.

All of a sudden my iPhoto 08 is blocked by iPhone password.?

    I get this message.

"Photos in the Camera Roll on "iPhone" cannot be viewed or imported because the iPhone is locked with a passcode."

"You must enter your passcode on the iPhone to view and import them."
I have no passcode. So I added a passcode to my iPhone, restarted all and tried again, entering my passcode. no luck.

I am thinking it may be since my new iphone update a few weeks ago ... I think ... but not sure.

Worked perfectly a few weeks ago, and pretty sure did not update any mac programs, just iPhone.

Photos in the Camera Roll on  "iPhone" cannot be viewed in iPhoto, or imported because the iPhone is locked with a passcode.

So I unlock the iPhone, restarted, tired again, same message.

I read online numerous fixes, including the "trust a computer", but none work.

One was to open itunes. But when I open iTunes, I now ALSO get a message ... iTunes could not connect to the iPhone “iPhone” because an invalid response was received from the device.

Apple advice is to make sure I have the latest version, this is the problem, but I have the latest version of iTunes 11.4.

I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8 and a iPhone 5, 10.0.2. … iPhoto 08. I cannot update to a newer system, or programs for numerous reasons. Please don't recommend.

    Any help appreciated.

Try Wondershare TunesGo, I downloaded this and it works, not only can I use this program, BUT FOR SOME REASON, my iPhoto does not ask for password and works, just like before.
