DON'T DOWNLOAD NEW ITUNES! (IF IT ISN'T BROKEN THEN DON'T FIX IT) :)

Most of you seem to have unsolvable issues with the latest version of iTunes as did I. The best thing you can do is DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE NEW VERSION OF ITUNES!!! I know alot of you already did and now you have ended up on this webpage, I'm sorry. I to had major problems with mine but after almost a month of fighting it I solved the issue.

What I did was uninstall and delete EVERYTHING. I uninstalled Ipod, Itunes, Quicktime. I pulled up my "search" window and searched all of the above and deleted everything that had to do with the above names. Unfortanatly I had to delete all my music files (6.8 days worth)which became corrupted. and then when everything was gone I reinstalled iTunes (with the disk that came with my iPod of course). Now everything is as it was, working properly and not making me curse Apple. I know this really ***** for those of you with huge music files but it seems to work. I hope this helps.

Are you going to send them your magical disk? Not everyone here has an iPod.

You know, a lot of security software allows installs from local disks, but not installs over the internet.

I have fixed like 30 problems this weekend where people just needed to turn off Norton before they ran the install.
Or, they didn't know the difference from an internet install vs. hard drive install.

Norton is expensive, poorly-written software that doesn't tell the PC user when it is blocking things. And it's installed on lots of PCs, off the shelf.

Next up is McAfee, which isn't much better.

Gee Thats funny cuz I tried that over and over again along with an endless list of suggestions from THIS website. until the upgrade is available on a magical disk in package with a brand new iPod, the best thing to do is NOT download it. It's a HUGE slap in the face for anyone who has been using it and then run into this crap.

I know problems happen no matter what but don't you think they would be less stressfull if Apple had a REAL technical support line. people shell out BIG bucks for these toys the least they can do is give them a real person to talk to and help them solve the problems caused by major flaws in THIER software. Ive used norton and mcafee and had problems like this with any other programs. But you know whatever, I fixed my problem, and good luck whith yours and if I run into another serious snag with my iTunes software then well I hear dell or MS has a pretty sweet player.
Thanks

Apple has a tech support line for people who buy Apple products.

But yeah, they have made a business decision not to give free 800 # to support Windows hardware/software they haven't sold.

iTunes is free to users, but not to Apple. Staffing an iTunes install line would be ********, they'd spend half their time telling people how to turn off Norton, which is a Symantec product.

And I wonder how many servers they have had to buy for iTunes Windows discussions.

There are other programs that can load an iPod with music. If you don't like iTunes, use one of those 3rd-party programs.

iTunes is free. If you don't like it, don't use it.
