Sorry, and thanks for asking for me to explain.

As you know Apple does not support hosting any more. I signed up at GoDaddy several days ago and was publishing my iWed website seemlessly at first. Yesterday I tried to add another website and after the new website was loaded, I tried to edit my first website. When I would "pulish" I would keep getting an error message that said, "You are offline. Get online and try again." I was online with Safari, etc. tried a bunch of things, called GoDaddy and we worked an hour, but could not get my iWed "online" to publish the corrections on my website.

Does this make more sense? Thanks

Well, you don't really need to be online to be able to pubish your site either - not in the sense that you would need to open Safari - all you need is an active internet connection and if you are uploading your site using the built in iWeb ftp, then simply fill in all your GoDaddy details and click on test connection to make sure that you have the connection. Then proceed to upload your site.

If this is not working then I would suggest that you open iWeb and publish your site to a local folder instead and then download Cyberduck and use this to upload your site to GoDaddy. It can be a little more reliable than the iWeb built in ftp feature.

I am sorry I am not even working this discussion right. Never the less:

1) Had active internet connection

2) Filled in GoDaddy details

3) clicked test connection, upload site (I did that a bunch several days ago and now all I get is "you are off line"

4) Dodaddy helped me publish my site to a local folder

5) I HOPE I can download Cyberduck and then be able to USE IT, I really liked the ease of iWeb.

I am sure I clicked the wrong chat in this discussion can I change it? I wish I had a hundredth of your knowledge!

Im now having the same issue. added a new site (godaddy) and I uploaded yesterday via ftp and I edited with no problems over and over again and now today all of a sudden when I want to update with changes it states that I am offline which is untrue. Have you found a way to get offline. I dont want to use another program I love how iweb you can just publis changes just as you wouls save your work. Having to figure out another program and adding the site in another program is not wassup. Let me know if you figured it out.

My iWeb WAS stuck on "You are offline"

1) Had active internet connection

2) Filled in GoDaddy details

3) clicked test connection, upload site and it would always say, "you are offline"

4) Dodaddy helped me publish my site to a local folder

5) I cleaned Safaria cache & reset Safaria

6) Cleaned up my desktop

7) Shut down all my applications

8) Shut down my computer completely for the night

9) The next next when I looked at iWeb it was working and has worked ever since

10) I have no idea what happened, but was very gratful to have it working again.
