I was sms'ing 2 friends, also iphone users.
and all of a suddney a msg was sent to my friend which i had not written...
how could they have possibly be sending msgs from my number.
and i have also got the stuff they have written.
I have called Telstra and they have blocked my sim, but should i do a restore on the phone or what????

Unless your iPhone is jailbroken, it was not hacked.
Are you using iMessage with the same Apple ID on any other device?
I have never jailbroken any of my apple products...

i am having the same problem with my iPhone. I also have not jailbroken my iPhone and do not know how to fix this problem. They replied to a text and said they were "hackers 🙂 ". If there is any fix to the problem, would be greatly appreciated.
I've been having the same problem. I have just shut off the iMessage application. I wish there was a way to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
This had just recently happened to me and another friend who also has an iPhone. I have done a full factory restore, and then turned off iMessage's. I'm slightly relieved to hear that my friend and I are not the only one's who have encountered this issue. It's just kinda sad that "hacker's" have found their way into reading and interacting (as you and the idividual you are texting) through iMessages/Text messages.
I got the same issue, started yesterday and someone was sending explicit messages to all my contacts. Are they hacking through iMessage? This is bizzare!!
I did a full restore as well, and then also did a sim swap with telstra and changed all passwords including the Apple one and since then i haven't had any problem thank God.

It's a complete fallacy that you can't hack an iphone unless it's been jailbroken.
If someone knows your mobile number, email address and password....essentially all your iphone/itunes details, they can login to your account from another device and use that device as if they were you.
I woke up this morning to 5 alerts on my iphone telling me that an iPad that does not belong to me was now using my phone number, my email address, my icloud, my iMessage and my SMS Message, on their device.
This means that this person now has access to EVERYTHING on my current iphone and in itunes, they can download expensive apps etc, see the messages I send and send messages on my behalf.
I am currently going through the process of changing passwords etc, but I don't think I can get my details back from their iPad...they will still have access to the stuff they've already downloaded (banking apps etc...as long as they don't know my password to that I should be ok though).
Apple is not hackproof.
