How often does an iOS device backup to iCloud?

Just turned on iCloud backup last night, it worked well. It should work everytime when power plug in, WiFi connected and screen locked as I understand.

But the backup didn't start tonight when I did exactly the same.

I therefore guess iCloud backup may just run once every single day but got no answer from any IOS BBS in China.

So, could anyone here give an explanation on iCloud backup?

Thanks.

iCloud will only backup automatically once in a 24 hour period.

And, as you said, the phone needs to be plugged in, connected to Wifi, and locked.

I found this on Apple's website here. It says it backs up daily.

Backup

A smarter way to back up your info.

You have all sorts of important stuff on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iCloud automatically backs it up daily over Wi-Fi when your device is connected to a power source. Once you plug it in, everything is backed up quickly and efficiently. That’s because Backup is like everything else in iCloud: convenient and completely effortless.
