Keychain not storing ssh key passphrase

Hey all,

I'm using ssh via the terminal with a private key that has a passphrase. Everytime I invoke the ssh command, I get a Keychain dialog for the passphrase but it doesn't store the value despite checking the remember checkbox. The keychain dialog keeps propping up. I'm on Lion 10.7.2. Passwords for other apps such as Mail, Safari, etc. are working fine.

Thanks.

Normally, that implies that your target machine doesn't accept stored passwords from the keychain and requires you to resubmit the password. Most financial sites do that. Can't be that difficult to reenter in order to tunnel to the target machine.😉

I have been having the same issue with 10.6.8 and I could not figure out why. Finally I found this post on Apple Stack Echange and it fixed the issue for me, you need to add the remote public corresponding key i.e. mykey.pub to your local /.ssh directory.

It makes no sense at all but fixed it for me, I have been plagued by this for weeks. I should also note that I tried a brand new clean install of 10.8.1 and had the same issue so that's when I knew something was terribly wrong.
