my iphone4 screen smashed today, so i rang apple and et up a repair and i am now waiting for the box to send it in, however im slightly confused, the email i received from them states there would be no charge for this, however im unsure as the man on the phone said it could cost up to 120.... anyone get it done for free?

I have no idea what you told them issue was.
The warranty only covers manufacturer defects. It does not cover damage.
They will likely call you when they see that it is damaged to tell you this.
You'd have to call Apple Support and ask. It could be an erroneous statement, or they could for some reason have decided to be kind to you. As RG said, absent the new AppleCare+ extended care plan, accidental damage is not covered by the iPhone warranty.

i said that my phone fell out my pocket and the screen smashed, hope i am lucky! but most likely not going to be the case!
does anyone know if they will repace the screen after the fact that i tried to replace it myself and was not successful?... i understand it breaks the warrenty contract but if you pay will they still fix the phone?
