google calendar stopped syncing with iphone

We sync the iphone 4s with google calendar and yesterday the sync just stopped. It still works fine with another iphone 4s, but this one just stopped syncing. Any ideas from anyone out there? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

After searching all day I found this in another response to setup your account you must create a new account as an Microsoft Exchange account.

Follow the instructions provided by Google to set up your gmail account as an Exchange account on the iPhone. You can then sync calendars and contacts as well as receive push e-mail.

It took a minute or two to synch and appears to be working now!!

I experienced the same strange loss of sync. Items I entered on my phone were showing up on my desktop calendar, but items I entered on my desktop weren't syncing with my phone. I don't know if it had something to do with the 2-step security feature I recently enabled with Gmail?

In any case, after trying a number of things I figured out how to get it working again, and it's much easier than the old Exchange setup: just turn the calendar off and on again!

Settings>

Mail, Contacts, Calendars>

Gmail (under Accounts)>

Toggle the Calendars On switch to Off>

Wait a moment, then toggle it back On.

After about one minute the Calendar had updated with all missing items!

Well it's June 2014 and I recently had the same problem. Thank you so much FORESTFIRE because your very simple system worked. Once I turned off the calendar, I was prompted to cancel or delete calendar from my iPhone. At first I cancelled then turned the switch back on and that didn't work so I did have to click the delete option. As soon as I turned it back on and checked my calendar, the missing dates were there. 🙂
