Preview places signature vertically

I found a workaround!

I just add that it happens exclusively to scanned documents and not exported. When I open the doc in Acrobat Pro and do OCR recognition where Acrobat applies "Deskewing image" process, then save and re-open it in Preview, the signature goes horizontally.

That means Preview is unable to position the signature correctly even if there's the slightest skew of the scanned image. And I mean slightest for we use mostly well scanned documents that appear to be straight enough.

That would mean to correct all scans in Acrobat before signing them in Preview or sign them vertically. Not very convenient, is it.

OR: Fool the system by making a vertical signature - rotate the signed paper in front of isight camera so it is heading donwnwards. Then choose this signature when signing scanned docs and use the correct horizontal when signing the exported ones.

Let us know if this is working consistently.

Anyway, this is a bug that should be reported to Apple.

Here's how I solved this:

add a new signature to your signature list -- but when taking the photo of it (assuming you photograph it via the facetime camera), hold it 90 degrees clockwise. That way, when preview mistakenly rotates it, it rotates it to the right orientation 🙂

A hack, but it works!

Apparently it's due to an issue with the PDF Format.

I fixed the problem by saving a copy of the document (File > Export..) and then adding the signature to that document.

Exporting works, but so does simple duplication (Cmd-shift-S)...
