My iPad has quit showning the keypad and there is a lock with a circle around it onthe top of the screen. What is it and how do I get my keyboard back without always turning off the iPad and hoping it will work

Going settings then general and fine keyboard then you will be able to adjust it, hope this helps
The circle with the lock is your screen rotation lock. Two places to check. First check the side of the iPad to verify if the switch above the volume is showing orange. Flip the switch and the icon should disappear. If that doesn't work, go to settings and then screen rotation.
