email notification sound not working

I own a iPad2 wifi. I have added my yahoo mail business account to my iPad. The current Sounds settings in my iPad is Ringer and Alerts ----> ON; Ringtone ----> Alarm; New Mail -----> ON and other settings such as Sent Mail, Calendar Alerts are in OFF mode. But I don't hear any sound alert when ever I receive an email. Do I need to need anything more to hear the sound. Appreciate your help.

Since the last up date prior to date 11/6/2017 None of my sounds work Ie: mail. message test and all others associated with sounds. The previous updates allowed me to hear the sounds. No my mute button is not on. all settings were the same when it was working with the earlier updates. The phone is a I 6 ver and I just updated the phone to IOS 11.1 today with no change, I had hoped that 11.1 would fix the issue. Any ideas?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.


Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
