We can try to make the iTunes installer ignore the damage instead.

In Computer, open your C drive.

Open the "Program files (x86)" folder

    Open the "Common Files" folder

    Open the "Apple" folder

Open the "Apple Application Support" folder

    Rename the "AVFoundationCF.resources" folder AVFoundationCF.resourcesOLD.

Try another install. Does it go through this time?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.

Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?

If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

hi b_noir, since you could already help so many with this issue I would like to ask you to help me because I have the same symptoms as described above but my windows update failed: alphanumeric code that appears is: 80073712.

I already tried several times to repair my windows 7 because of this by reinstallation, but it ended in a blue screen. Can you help me?

How do I fix the problem I am having? When trying to download the Apple Application Support in WinRAR I get the message: "The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file : C:\Program Files (x86)\CommonFiles\Apple\AppleApplicationSupport\WebKit.resources\inspector\Imag es\spinnerInactiveSelected.gif."

Any Ideas what I can do to stop this from happening? Also I am on the Master account before there's a question about that, I just can't figure this out and iTunes is starting to get on my last nerve.

Hi! I uninstalled my itunes completely and fresh installed itunes 11.1.4.62 then tried to restore my iphone 4 GSM to 7.0.4 and failed with unknown error (2) at about 60%  of the total process.I again reinstalled apple application support.msi as your suggestion, restarted pc and tried to restore ,but it ended with same result with unknown error(2).Again I tried to restore my iphone 4 by opening itunes as administrator with all security softwares uninstalled and windows firewall disabled.Even this didn't help me and ended with same error.

So please help me! I am stucked at this since last 2 months....Now there is no firmware in my iphone and I only have connect to itunes logo.

I actually had the same problem. The fix suggested above didnt help. I eventually completely deleted all itunes files and reïnstalled them in a different directory. Since then everything works perfect. Don't forget to temporarily switch off your anti-virus or firewall.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

The "for older video cards" version is a 64-bit installer for the core 32-bit code, the same as every 64-bit version of iTunes up to 12.1. It may provide a useful workaround. I've also seen suggestions that disabling the Windows firewall while installing iTunes may prevent the Microsoft.VC80.CRT error. Alternatively you could download the installer and physically disconnect during the install to see if that helps.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I have followed your suggestions above in relation to the Error 2 for windows (64bit). I tried to the stand alone application support installation, it didn't work for me.

    Please please assist.

    7.6195",publickeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",process

or Architecture="amd64" . Please refer to help and support

I have this problem as well.  While installing Itunes I get the following error:

    Capture.JPG

then there is a rollback action and it continue with installing Bonjour and the rest of the setup.  then after some time I get the following error.

    Capture1.JPG

I tried all the advises to solve this, including installing AAS seperately, deleting old Itunes directories in explorer as well as in registry, but still the problem remains.  I then uninstalled and tried to install the previous version that I know worked, but it does not want to work either.  This problem started since the upgrade to Itunes 10, which I was able to solve at that stage, and then again with the next upgrade.
