iTunes access issue

I am having difficulty opening my iTunes library. When I try to access the following error message appears:

iTunes cannot run because some of its files are mising. Please reinstall itunes.

Does this mean I loose music that has not been backed up?

Do I have to uninstall itunes before I reinstall?
