iPod nano will not play on iHome iP9 and is frozen. Help?!

This morning, I went to play my iPod nano on my iHome iP9. The song was playing, but there was no sound and it was not charging like it usually does. When I took the iPod off the dock, it played fine with my headphones, but I could not adjust the volume, pause the song, change the song, or pull up the menu. When I put it back on the iHome, I could pause and change the song and pull up the menu. So when I plugged it up to my regular charger, it would not charge. But the funny thing is, is that it was working perfectly fine yesterday. On the iHome or with my headphone. Help!!
