Remote wiping is a last resort if an iPod is stolen that protects your data from being accessed. As this restores to factory settings, you won't be able to track it after this. Only do this if your data is jeopardized. If you can see the stolen iPod, contact the police or go retrieve it yourself.

Wish I would have knowm this before wiping it. Should have been some warning confirmation explaining that it would full restore to factory before being wiped.

So even if someone stole it and could access everything like shut off the find my ipod and location services. Then was able to do a full system wipe would that as well restore to factory setting?

Also if the ipod is still registered can someone else register it on itunes?

Is the ipod traced through it's MAC addres with icloud?

Someone can restore it and use it as their own.
