Faroudja DCDi Video Smoothing

Faroudja DCDi Video Smoothing

Anybody familiar with this technology?

A new Gateway LCD display uses it and they claim it really reduces artifacting without reducing detail.

If so, are there any professional devices that use it? I would imagine it could be very helpful in up-rezing HDV content to higher quality formats.

darn near everything you use has a circuit from faroudja built into it. i think my butler toothbrush has a faroudja brush tine doubler in it.

years and years ago, i used to pipe video through faroudja line doublers on it's way to a big ole' three lens hughes video projector which is now seeing service as a boat anchor somewhere. i can't google the product your speaking of at the moment due to remote dial up service but faroudja makes quality products.

Recently, we purchase a few of these displays and have been very pleased with them. Image quality is slightly lower than my 30" Cinema and needed a bit more calibration using our EyeOne Display than the Apple display did.

Like most computer LCD's the video inputs are too dark. The video scaler is very nice. I would recommend it for anyone wanting footage to look better than it really is. Therefore, I can't recommend it for those planning on monitoring the footage for problems, since the DCDi removes artifacts and compression on the fly.

Anyone else using this display?
