ITunes keeps asking me for a password to "Sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads"

Can someone recommend a replacement to iTunes.

I am not interested in the constant barrage of junk crap Apple is throwing at me. I just want to use iTunes, once in a blue moon to back up and restore.

What I need is a good music organizer to play music on my computer, including flac files that I have not used in years.

***? You are using Safari? For real? I gave it up long ago and I'm morphing away from all Apple software as it is all crap. I use Firefox with Ad Block Plus to get rid of all the constant garbage coming at my in non stop ads. Seriously, I would have given up the internet if someone else decided what I viewed. Since Apple was constantly updating to break Pith Helmet, I gave up on it. Safari is junk software.

How to fix this. While in I-tunes open up the I-Tunes Store. Next click your user login name, should be upper left side of the window. Now scroll to the bottom and just above the Done icon should be another icon labled Reset. This icon will have the text Reset all warnings for buying and downloading. Click the Reset icon. I don't know if this will work for all but it helped me.

Same here. Please help. I know there are still bugs in the new update (11.0.4)

Even if I:

- De-authroized my account

- Sign out of iTunes and iTunes Store, the sign in

- Turn off automatic downloads, and close iTunes and re-open

- Re-install iTunes

and verious other methods that people have posted about, but no luck.

Please share your if you have a way to fix this.

i'm clearly not a windows user but...

this issue has ceased after updating to itunes 11.

i did so reluctantly. updating software is usually troublesome, but apart from some minor irritation, itunes 11 is the best itunes (no i don't work for apple!) 😉

the issue of the signing in question was a permanent but bearable fixture since itunes 8 or 9. so i've suffered as long as many people here.

Updating to iTunes 11 did not fix the issue for me. It seems that iTunes log in info and Safari cookies are still interrelated and resetting or learing cookies in Safari causes iTunes to log out.

I have a new windows 8 desktop and when I attempt to launch itunes, it wants me to sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads. This computer is authorized and this is not happening on my iphone 5 or my windows 7 laptop. I want a fix for it, my grandkids come over and play itunes and i want them to be able to play music without me having to log in 27 times a day. Please help provide clear instructions on how to fix.

I'm not having any luck resolving this. Also, it now seems to affect my iCloud Sync. Pictures do not download to my Windows 7 Workstation unless I sign out / in to theiCloud Control Panel.

I tried changing my password this morning, but that hasn't helped.

Strange. I am running iTunes 10.7.0.21 on Windows 7. Deauthorizing my computer AND signing out of the iTunes Store seems to have fixed the problem for me. Although if I re-sign in the annoying password prompt comes up again.

I am using a Windows 7 laptop with the latest iTunes version running on it. After I had changed my Apple ID password for security reasons, I had the same prompts to enter my password to enable automatic downloads each time I started iTunes. How did I resolve it? Deauthorized my laptop and then re-authorized it. No more pop-ups! I also unchecked 'Always check for available downloads' (Preferences > Store).

Like you guys, I absolutely hate having to sign into iTunes every single time. But, let me try and explain why this is:

1.) every time iTunes is runs, with or without a phone plugged in. It's a challenge to you to prove who you are. Why?

a.) because Apple can no longer unlock a PW protected phone. In the wake of Android/Google **** near giving The Govt. full access to PW protected phones. Apple has gone the other way with their new protocols. They, (Apple) is steadfast in their convictions, to protect their customers privacy. So by Apple writing encryption protocols removing their ability to unbrick a lost or stolen phone by way of a wipe. ensures even if a person or entity does come into possession of your computer and does a complete wipe, and restore from cloud. the phones PW & Data will remain and still not be able to be penetrated.

I do not believe in the foreseeable future Apple undoing this iTunes challenge in any further updates. I could be wrong. but. that would defeat the reason they removed their access.

I tried this, sort of. I turned of the store, logged out... logged back in, then realize that I couldn't figure out how to get back to the store, so I just rechecked the box for the store, and there it was again.

And strangely...

..the next time I went to purchase something from the iTunes Store, the check box to save my password was suddenly there!

Now, no more putting my password in every 2 minutes. THANK YOU! (What a pain that was!)

This has worked for my first run but I saw a source else where that said to do these steps:

1) Itunes tab at the top left

2) Preferences

2) Advanced Tab

3) Reset Warnings (button)

Apparently this will also go through the whole intro message situation again but it should stop the issue as well.

JUST did this so I haven't been able to see if it really works or not myself, but its the only response i've seen that looks promising.
