How good is the download manager in the Mac OS X App Store?

Hello,

I have a Macbook Air (mid-2011) that is running OS X 10.7.2 and I am trying to download a large application (Xcode) but have to use the pause/resume button because my internet speed/quality isn't good. If you pause an application while it is downloading, can you resume it after you restart your laptop?
