Apple Jam Packs and Why Discontinued ? OSX 10.7, iOS or??

This has been puzzling Me and have not found a definitive answer , I realize the Apple Jam packs are

discontinued,

? around the time OSX 10.7 Lion announcement I recall,? Is it a Financial decision on decling sales or sales

never

met projections (for Garageband ) or is it related 1) to OSX 10.7 Lion *which I doubt as Logic Studio current

version

can run on Lion and Six disc's are included of Jam pack content or 2) is it that Garageband has now the capability

to be ported/run on the iPad2 and the iPod Touch (? generation and iOS) (and ? iPhone) or 3) None of the above

I have Jam pack 1 and 4 of the 5 Genre Based or Instrument based Apple Jam Packs (I like the Virtual

Instruments) using

I do not have The World Instrument Jam pack but perhaps will find/locate a copy.

I appreciate any/all input

I run Garageband 9' on a iMac summer 2010 and ? will either Download Garageband 11' as a Mac App

or get a Single/Family Pack disk as have 2 Mac's running OSX Snow Leopard with no hurry upplans for Lion now

I will post a Mac App ? in that forum,

Thanks,

diamondblues

Apple has yet to make any public announcements, and speculation is against the ToS here, so i'm afraid there is no answer to this

All the Jam Packs are now downloadable free when buying either Mainstage 2 or Logic Studio 9 from the Mac App Store. I for one am still amazed at the value for money that these products now represent.

I have bought Mainstage 2 from the Mac App Store and for my investment of £20.99 I now have both Mainstage 2 and access to all of Logic Pro's instruments and all the Jam Packs. It's quite incredible. EXS24 sampler, Steinway Grand Pianos, the lot, just for that £20.99.

I can, of course, even use these instruments and loops in my copy of Logic Express 8. When I have the cash I will be purchasing Logic Pro 9 from the Mac App Store too. It's a no-brainer!

Are you saying that you can use mainstages instruments inside of Garageband, that you can record them and use them as a part of your GB projects?

Also, is the same true of Logic Express 8?

It's an incredible bargain.

To clarify:

If you purchase Mainstage 2 from the Mac App Store you can download all the Jam Packs (loops & instruments) via that app for free. You can then use all the instruments included in the Jam Packs in Mainstage and Logic Express or Logic Pro. Basically, if you already own a version of Logic Express (I own Logic Express 8) then you get access to a huge raft of new instruments, including the EVP88 electric piano simulator, EVB3 organ simulator and the loops within Logic Express. The Sculpture plugin appears to be barred from Logic Express.

In GarageBand, you can use the added amps and stomp boxes that Jam Pack 1 included. I cannot seem to access all the loops from GarageBand but this appears to be a bug I am experiencing. I could not see them all in Logic Express either until I re-indexed my loops. That doesn't seem to have helped GarageBand's Loop Browser for some reason but that appears to be a separate matter.

I hope this helps.

Does the free download really include ALL previous Jam Packs ?
