iPhone 3GS Stuck on apple logo, unable to restore

This problem happened today. I plugged in my iPhone to charge as it had died in the night. Left it charging for say 40 minutes and then took it off charge and didnt use it. When I got it out the screen was black so I assumed the battery had died once again... I plugged it in once again but this time it did not start, it was just staying on the apple logo prior to booting up (Of which it is still doing now). Im truly stuck with this... I've tried restoring countless times, watching countless youtube videos and reading through threads on the internet of how others have tackled this problem and had been sucessfull. Im getting many different error codes when I try to restore etc... and it seems my iPhone is actually functioning as I rang it of my landline and the the phone did ring but obviously no ringtone/etc coming from my iPhone. Im truly stuck and would appreciate it if anybody could help me!
