iPhone 4S MC921LL bought from local APPLE STORE question

Hey, yesterday my father has bought new iPhone 4S (factory unlocked) from local Apple Store. We activated it by itunes, and after that we realised that there is inside an ATT card . Now phone (with ATT sim inside) has got in General > device info information "Operator ATT 11.0" So does it have simlock or not ?? He payed full price ~800$ with tax for that. We live in Europe and just curious if i will work.... ? Model number is MC921LL 32GB white iP 4S. If I restore this phone will I see again "unlock message"? because I cant remember if there information on first try, he did it alone without me.

If your phone came with an AT&T sim card, it is NOT unlocked. Rather, it is carrier locked to AT&T and cannot be officially unlocked to use on any other carrier's network. What you actually purchased is a "contract free" but still carrier locked iPhone.

Return it for a refund, if still within the 30 day return window.

But if I restore it by itunes and the message "Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked." will appear - my iphone is simlock free yes ?

Sorry, that message will not appear. Only AT&T could authorize the official unlocking of your phone, but they won't. AT&T will not unlock an iPhone for anyone for any reason.

Return the phone for a refund...that's your best option.
