i have iWork's on my mac book pro, can i transfer it to my macbook air?
i will only be using the packages on the Airbook, i do not intend to multi-platform the software. How do I go about the transfer? Wll it work in Lion?

iWork does work with Lion. If you purchased it from the App Store then you can use it on all of the computers you personally own. If you purchased the boxed set then you can use it only on one computer at a time unless you purchased the family pack.
To transfer them just copy the iWork folder.

No you can't.

Works for me.
Me too
Which installation does this work for because it doesn't work for a DLed demo or install from the DVD.
I don't have MAS version to try it with.
What happens to all the files installed in the System?
Peter
Peter,
I've only done it with an iWork folder installed from the DVD. However, there should be no limitation with respect to the App Store downloads.
Unlike iLife, iWork apparently doesn't install any specific files outside of its folder other than preference files which will be recreated if not present.
I can only tell you from my experience.
The iWork from dvd or download from Apple store DO store more files than the iWork folder in Application on the computer.
So I finished transfering the folder to the new laptop. It asked for the registration numbers and had no other problems launching any of the iWorks packages.
Thanks to everyone.
Odd. I've never tried it myself but the forum is full of people who have done exactly that only to get a stuffed up installation!
Peter
Hello Kappy
What you described is a perfect scheme to be unable to use the apps bought as iWork (different for apps bought thru the MAS).
When we install the iWork package, the installer put the apps in the Applications:iWork '09 folder but it install also a set of required shared files in the folder :
Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:iWork '09:
Without the files embedded in this folder, the apps can't work.
The iWork apps bought from the MAS embed a copy of this set of files so we may move them more easily.
