How do I disable antivirus software and anti-spyware in order to update My Book Essential software? I'm sure it's simple, but I don't even know where to look for this information. Any tips and/or answers are appreciated
Did the AV software install a preference pane or application to allow you to temporarily disable it? If not, then did the software come with an uninstaller (possibly part of the installer)? If not then you would need to post which AV software you installed since installations differ. Then someone could help you with the specifics or a possible link to the software's site with instructions on how to uninstall it.

As a suggestion, use the uninstaller (for the A/V softwareto get rid of that stuff). There are no viruses that affect a Mac running OS X - none.
