why buy a macbook at an apple store vs best buy

I am curious of what the benefits are from buying from the apple store vs somewhere like Best Buy where you can get the same product for cheaper right now.

MacBook Pro

I bought an iphone 5 from Best Buy and I had water damage which was covered by their warranty. I was thrilled to be handed a "new" phone that worked perfectly well. Then I started to experience the battery recall problem where my iphone 5 would not hold a charge. My best buy warranty ran out but I didnt worry cause I knew Apple would replace the battery because it was recalled by Apple. I brought it to Apple Store and they said it was not an authenticated Apple product and showed me the back of the phone which did not have a serial # on it??? Apple store recognized I had an originally purchased Apple iPhone 5 in their system.I knew I had purchased an authentic apple iphone 5 from best buy so they asked if I ever had a repair? Apple store recognized I had an originally purchased Apple iPhone 5 in their system. I said yes I had it replaced for water damage under their warranty. Turns out I had to go back to Best Buy and BB would not honor the refurbished product even though they had replaced with my Apple product with a non Apple product. Best Buy said they couldn't honor their repaired product because it was out of warranty and they said the battery recall was something only Apple would be able to replace. Apple said they could not replace the battery because it was no longer an Apple authenticated product. THANKS BEST BUY FOR THE HEADS UP ON NOT USING APPLE PRODUCTS TO REPLACE and REPAIR YOUR APPLE BOUGHT AND SOLD PRODUCTS! Now I have a perfectly good Iphone that has a dead battery that will cost me more than the phone is worth to replace even though it is a factory defective battery that has been recalled!

There is a big difference... yes!!! Apple agents are professional... they treat you well... not because they want to push you to buy something you are going to return... they know the product...

Best buy.... another whole story... you think you are getting the same product for less... but it has been opened... returned... used most of the time...

Apple isn't going to cost you more...

If you buy a cellphone buy it anywhere you want... a computer...please go to apple store!!!

They are my favourites!!! But... it's always cloudy their!!! You will have to be patient and wait for your time without complaining!!!!

You will get a better service!!!! It will be worth your time...

I bought one from best buy and returned it!!! I didn't open it!!!!and went to buy from apple and now i am satisfied!!!

When i returned to best buy... they said... we are going to check it... i was like??? It s not open... they opened it and when i saw that it was used... i was happy that i thought to return it...

And the machine is handled carefully, not lost, scratched or dropped, proper records are kept, things are done when promised, etc., etc. The stories we see here about BB are all about carelessness, bad management, inattention to detail, machines lost or swapped during repairs, and trying (or lying) to cover up mistakes. Thanks, but no thanks.

You may get a better deal $$ from Best buy, up to about $50 in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card. My first Apple was bought at Best Buy. After 2 years I had problems. I took it to the Apple Store and if memory serves me right, they sent it off to be fixed. They can do a lot of repairs in store. In any case I ended up buying another one through Apple and I did buy the extended warranty from Apple to which here I am 4 years later and have had absolutely no issues what so ever. I am now recycling both of my laptops to Apple and getting $500 toward a new one. Is this a coincidence? I don't know. Are the laptops handled better at the Apple Store? I don't know. However, I do know this much. I own a Lawn Care Company and I would never buy a Toro or John Deere from Lowes. They are not the same quality that they are from a Turf specific shop. Just saying.

I bought my macbook pro 13inch from best buy and i can not really complain. i decided to buy the exteded warranty from geek squad for 150 dollars because they said that if anything happens to the computer i can take it in and they will fix it or replace it if it cant be fixed. a difference between buying at best buy vs apple store might be if you are a student. at the apple store students can get a discount.

I went to the Apple Store and they certainly know what they are talking about. I decided which product I wanted and purchased it during their Friday sale. Now I see that Best Buy has the exact same product for $50 less than the Apple Store sale price. I'm hoping that maybe I will get better service if I have any issues since i purchased direct from the Apple Store.

Anyone know if you can still get the same customer service at an Apple Store with a product purchased elsewhere?
