iTunes Artwork Chang Arrow has gone?

I have back, front and CD covers for the majority of my iTunes playlists. WHY WHY WHY Apple has somebody decide to get rid of the arrow in the iTunes artwork window to change the artwork? WHY WHY WHY has somebody also decided that you can no longer highlight all the album tracks and drag multiple pieces of artwork onto the artwork window?

Like several aspects of Lion these are backward steps. Please show some respect to the massive amount of work that many of us have done on iTunes and leave things alone!

I can still add multiple art, but only via the Artwork tab in Get Info. and I have to use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste as the context menus aren't there. (Weird, I tried again and the menus are there now.) Another change I've just noticed is that if you drop an image onto a track with two or more embedded images, the new image becomes the second, the first is preserved, and all others are removed.

My money would be on this being a set of related bugs rather than a deliberate feature change. I've submitted a bug report to that effect.

turingtest12 - I hope your bug assumption is correct - quite often I find the information provided by Apple's Senior Technical Adviser's to be correct.

I can also add multiple pieces of artwork by going into Get Info for each individual track and yes the second piece of artwork becomes the first. I have also found no way of switching between the different pieces of artwork associated with a track.

This is unacceptable Apple. Please sort it out.

Apple won't see your comment here born2rock, but does monitor feedback provided through the contact link at the bottom of the page.

I can still switch artwork with arrows. Mind you, I am still using iTunes 7.5. You don't absolutely have to automatically upgrade just because they bring out a new version. Take a look at the new version, see if there are improvements, or the reverse, then decide.

I've developed a quick workaround, and am still hoping Apple will fix this!

Go To Get Info on the tune you want to see secondary artwork for.

Go To the Artwork tab

Drag the back cover to the desktop, and it will create a new jpg you can open with quick viw or prieview where you can see it large!

you end up with a lot of jpgs on the desktop to discard!

dcsos Thanks for trying to contribute a solution to this highly annoying Apple imposed problem.

Please explain: Is the program removing the secndary artwork itself? Or just still refusing to display it?

I would expect the only way to lose secondary artwork (backcover) would be to restore from iTunes match.

I, having secondary artwork, like you dave, need my own little cloud..as few iTunes store items 'match' my eccentric collection..(lot of LP's played into a MP3 file)

Haven't quite got to the bottom of this. With some tunes I still have multiple pieces of artwork and on others only the main cover remains and I know that originally there were multiple pieces.

I know that not long ago I clicked Get Artwork in the Advanced section of the iTunes menu bar and I am wondering if this has messed things up?

Yes, I too want the arows back. I have tons of albums with front & back covers and a few with extras as well. I loved being able to click the arrow above the cover (at the bottom left of iTunes) and scroll through the artwork for that track.

The strange thing is that when I add an image by dragging it to the cover in the corner, I see the arrows appear for a second before disappearing again. Anyone else notice this?

In any event, not sure why Apple would remove this 'feature' on purpose. The fact that I can see them (even just for a second) tells me they are still there, but hidden ;-(

I see the phantoms also..but I suggest since I-tunes match -matches your ripped content - with apples 'for sale' - content is a move to force you to 'accept' only the front cover supplied by Apple.

This is bad

I have back cover with credits and production information I've stored in the files from my cds.

I've scanned sone artwork myself as well as grabbing it from sites on the web.

This would be a supreme waste.

Someone should step up with a utility to view embedded artwork - if such a program exists..let us know about it

I'm really quite annoyed with Apple over this. How dare they completetely wreck hours of work for possible reasons of commerciality.

Just like yourself dcsos I have back, front and centres for the majority of my music. Some of MY ARTWORK even seems to have disappeared.

I have forwarded feedback to Apple through their official feedback site.PLEASE DO THE SAME.
