iRig Failure

I have a one week old iPad2 and am trying to use the iRig with it, using both the free AmpliTube app (from the iRig people) and also Rock Prodigy. Things worked fine for about a day. Then I quit getting audio out of the iRig when using either of those apps.

Here's what works and what doesn't (equals signs indicate a wired connection):

1 using ampliTube app, ipad ==== iRig ===== headphones NO sound on headphones

2 using ampliTube app, ipad ==== headphones sound on headphones

3 using iTunes app, ipad ==== iRig ===== headphones sound on headphones

My test for configs 1 and 2 is to use one of the demo songs in the app. The headphones are typical stereo headphones. I have also done all the same tests using self-amplified speakers, with the same results.

The manufacturer's technical support hasn't been able to resolve the issue. Their latest guess is that there is lint in the iPad jack. I don't see how that is consistent with test 3. Towrd that end, I am trying to find something that

I just got a new ipad 2 and having a connection problem. The irig does not sit properly when plugged in. There is one black stripe on the irig jack still showing and only one channel with sound from the irig headphone jack.

This same irig worked fine with my 1st gen ipad but not with the recessed headphone output on the ipad 2.

Not sure if it's just my ipad 2 or if it's a problem for all ipad 2's and irig. The apple earbuds work fine with the ipad 2 so i'm thinking it's the plug size of the irig not allowing it to be seated properly.

I'm wondering if there is an adapter for the recessed headphone output?

Seems to me, that my experience is identical to yours.

I don't see how they can expect a plug with four connectors to perform in a socket with only three connectors.

I get the click out of the phone with no guitar , the click in the earphones with no guitar, (if I persevere long enough) sometimes a tuning signal, but not always, but never anything out of the amplifier from the guitar at all. Internal reception of guitar yes, levels jumping up and down quite happily, but nothing audible from the guitar on either or Fender or Marshall versions out towards the earphones/speakers.

Is it worth pursuing ?

Although, sometimes, if I spin the plug round in circles, I do get Alanis Morrisette occasionally.
