I use Ableton Live 5.0 to mix MP3s together in a DJ set. I have noticed recently that a number of MP3 files are not recognized by the application.. unrecognized codecs. Upon further investigation it seems that Ableton uses Quicktime to play the MP3 files within the application. I tested this theory and found that QT could not open the files... error 2048 - not a movie file. Realplayer is OK, so to is windows media player and Winamp.
I am told that the problem exists with MP3 files encoded with a high bit rate (320k) using VBR. Files at 320k using CBR are OK.
The MP3s have all been legally downloaded from www.djdownload.com
Hi Wizzy, unfortunately I do not know the answer to your question but I am also having problems with Ableton. I can only use a few files from my library. I think it is because they are MP3 files and the files that it wont let me use are MP4 files. Do you know what I have to do to be able to use these MP4 files in ableton? do i have to convert them somehow and if so how?
Thanks
Warren
