Is anyone getting AirPrint to work with HP ENVY printer, please?

I,ve been through quite a few forums on both Apple and HP. Still can,t get my iPad to AirPrint to my HP ENVY-400a. It will work fine with their ePrint, which requires me to send an email to the printer. Both are on the same network, different IP addresses. Have re-started the router and other devices in sequence. AirPrint would be nice to have, particularly as Apple are promoting this printer in their NZ store. I,d just like to hear from anyone who has this working, to know that it is possible.

Thanks.

Have you tried updating the firmware? Most HP printers need a firmware update in order to use AirPrint. Check the HP support page to see if there are updates for your printer.

BTW, as an aside, you should consider adding the HP Home and Biz printing app to your iPad. This app lets you choose paper types, sizes, margins, etc., that AirPrint will not let you do. It's in the App store. I use mine a lot, and lets you print with a 3G connection too.

@Sid Starr,

When you try to AirPrint, are you able to find your printer when it says "Select Printer"?

If not:

On the home screen of your HP Envy printer:

  1. Select the wrench icon on the top right.
  2. Select Web Services.
  3. Select Product Updates.
  4. Select Check for Product Updates.
  5. If there are updates available, install them, then follow steps 1-4 again until you receive the message "You have the most current updates installed."

On your iPad:

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Go to the General section.
  3. It is preferable for Bluetooth to be off.

If you are able to find the printer when trying to print:

  1. Press the home button on your iPad two times to bring up your multitasking section.
  2. If the app "Print Center" is available, remove all the print jobs stuck in there.

HP ENVY-400a?

HP has an Envy 100 - D410 and an Envy 110 - D411 both of which are AirPrint printers.

If you have one of these printers and everything else looks like it should work then you'll want to make sure your router can pass Bonjour packets. What make and model router are you using?

Thanks snagger68, AirPrint still doesn't work for me - even with BlueTooth off. I installed HP's home&biz app and that works fine, but BlueTooth has to be off. Annoying because I use a Logitech keyboard with my iPad. However, for those times that I don't want to print from my iMac, it's all good.

I'm still disappointed that AirPrint doesn't work the way it's presented.

I believe your modem is branded by Huawei, if I am researching correctly. You can view the manual I referenced by clicking the link below.

If you get into the User Interface of your router, often times by entering your router's IP address in the address bar of an internet browser, you can verify some settings.

If you log into the interface and go to the Advanced Setup, then to the LAN section, is IGMP Snooping on or off? As far as switching that setting for testing, I cannot recommend that to be a fix, some network administrators leave that off, others leave it on, depending on their network and security needs.
