itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match

That would be great if it worked, anyone else report success with this?

Lots of success but some data lost in the process. Playlists in tact but some song attributes missing.

For me, the minor loss of data was worth it.

After re-running itunes match some songs were listed as duplicate, or different in itunes from match. I deleted the ones on my HDD and re-downloaded the cloud version.

So far, so good.

I'm giving Johnny Appleseed's method a go. I reset my iPod and am copying my library of 20,000 songs onto it with "convert to 128k AAC" enabled.

The thing is, each track takes about 15 seconds or so to convert, so my laptop is going to be running for 4 solid days.

I really hope this works or its 4 days wasted trying yet again to fix my iTunes library.

Of course, when it's all finished I've then got to reset my iPod again and upload my songs at the correct bitrate onto it.

An important step before you do the Iport from the .XML file. If you store your music other than your computers HDD, like an external drive, a server or NAS, be sure to set that to point to that location in Preferences BEFORE starting the import.

I just found the following. On my iPhone, using the cloud, it is cut off. On my computer using iTunes and iTunes Match, it is not cut off.

So, what gives here? Meaning, match on my PC is fine but on my iPhone it gets cut off. How can I fix that?

Glenn, now delete the song from iTunes on your computer but not from the cloud and play the song in iTunes (from the cloud, without re-downloading it first). See if it cuts off.

I recently got a new laptop that is work issued and the IT guy did reinstall my music, but I'm not sure where he took it from and I can't figure out if there is an XML version anywhere. I had to delete all the music on my Ipod in order to reinstall and I lost all of my playlists. I went through and redid everything and just figured out the songs are cutting off. I tried to put the music on my desktop and go to ITunes and import, but that didn't do anything. I need more direction in order to see if I can do this. Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty bummed this is happening as I'm hosting a NYE party tomorrow night and all my playlists are cutting off in midsong. Which of course, they play just fine on my Itunes. This is on my Ipod that this is happening.

OK so this morning my laptop finished 4 solid days of loading up my 20,000 strong library of songs onto my iPod set to "convert to 128k ACC" and at the end a dialogue came up saying it couldn't convert 180 tracks. I have started going through the list and the first five I've tested were cut off at the end. So it does seem that this method enables you to figure out which of your tracks are cut off at the end. The whole process will take longer than a week of continuous work by my laptop to get an uncorrupted library of songs on my iPod at their correct bitrate.

The downsides to this approach are:

• You need a long time to do this if your library is big.
• The interface in iTunes that lists the corrupted songs doesn't enable you to save the list, so if you made the mistake of closing it down you wasted however many days you just spent converting your library. So important at this stage is to take a screen grab of the dialogue box so you can keep a record of which songs you need to delete and re-download. Or if you like typing you could type the list into Notepad or something. I tried this and it took an absolute age, which was why I ended up taking screengrabs... four of them in my case to capture the whole list.
• I'm sure that some clever person could automate this whole process and do it in a fraction of the time it takes a human. But then, really, iTunes shouldn't be broken in the first place, should it?

I had this same problem recently when I copied all of my itunes music from an old laptop running Windows 7 to a new laptop running Windows 8. After syncing my iphone with itunes on the new laptop I noticed some songs were cutting off early while others played through to the end. Reading a few of the posts in this thread I realized I should have used the File/Add Folder to Library feature of itunes to import my music...NOT simply copying the files into the itune/itune media/music folder on the new computer. So in itunes on the new computer I selected all of the songs under Music, right clicked and deleted all songs from itunes...NOT sending them to the recycle bin...so they remained in the same physical location under libraries/music/itunes/itunes media/music...and then used File/Add Folder to Library in iTunes to add them all back into iTunes at once. This completely fixed my problem...once I synced my iphone again all songs now played through to completion. Caution...be sure to first export playlists as they will all be emptyed of songs.

I just tried it. No it does not. But it still does cut off on my iPhone. So, now what?

Any advice now?

The script will only help you find the offending tracks - it doesn't fix the underlying issue of course. But in case any of you are looking for a way to identify the truncated songs, this might help.

Yes, I did see that however here I am, I have the file in the cloud that is perfect when played from the cloud on my laptop but that same cloud file when played on my iPhone is a no go. Now what? Makes no sense to me as they are the same file that I am playing in two different places.
