Q: itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match

There might be multiple reasons that songs cut off.  But at least in some cases it's an iTunes problem, for me it's always the same songs and they always cut off in the exact same spot.  And the same files play back fine in any other audio playback app.

Has any simple fix come from Apple for this issue?

I have thousands of dollars in music and am less than amused that much of it has become corrupted by using iTunes -

To me it's a destruction of my property, the fact that there hasn't been a solution offered for this damage is unconscionable and certainly not consistent with what I'd expect from Apple.

The best solution I have found is to remove the file from iTunes, but click "Keep File."  Then just click and drag it back into iTunes.

Kibbles1053 - walk me through your recommendation - I created a file on my desk top and dragged a file from ITunes ot the file folder but that does not remove the file from iTunes . . .

I also don't know where the "Keep Files" option is

I just find the song in iTunes and press delete.  A dialog box pops up and asks "Are you sure?" then (after pressing "delete song") says "Do you want to move the selected song to the Trash, or keep it in the iTunes Media folder?"  I press the "Keep File" button.  Then I find the song in my library (in Finder), and click and drag it back into iTunes.  Problem solved.

Also, I have found that if one song in an album cuts off unexpectedly, there is usually at least one other song in the album that will.  I found it less time-consuming to just remove and re-add entire albums.

Lastly, this only happens to my purchased, protected AAC files (the ones with the .m4p file extension).

I'm currently experiencing the same problem, tried the music on both my MAC and PC and only certain tracks cut off and go to the next track on the playlist. Looks like so far it is purchased songs from iTunes. What I have found is that if I play the music in Quicktime the song will play the full track and not cut off.

My iPhone has this problem with playing the same tracks as itunes on the PC/MAC. I have an ipad on order so will see if it has the same problem!!

As mentioned earlier there seem to be a few different issues at play here. In my case, tracks I'd upgraded by re-downloading via iTunes Match were incomplete, despite the metadata suggesting otherwise. They were truncated regardless of whether I played them in iTunes, QuickTime or the Finder.

Following the advice of others on here, I:

1. Determined the corrupt tracks by copying all my iTunes Match upgrades to an old iPod with "convert to 128k AAC" enabled. The corrupt tracks were the ones that could not be converted. This revealed nearly 500 corrupt tracks out of about 17,000 upgrades.
2. Created a playlist of the corrupt tracks, then deleted and re-downloaded them with "allow simultaneous downloads" disabled.
3. Copied the playlist to the iPod again. This time all of them were converted, meaning the re-downloaded files were all OK.

I'm also having this issue. It only happens to songs I've bought in the iTunes store. My only solution has been to delete the song entirely and re-download it. Very annoying. I have over 20,000 songs on my PC and I should not have to be expected to do this everytime iTunes messes it up! Get off your *** and do something about it!

The problem with this is that it also re sets your play count, and rating. Not to mention it removes the track from any playlist you may have put it in. That's a lot of work to replace just for an issue that is clearly related to iTunes.

I have the same issue, but deleting and adding back doesn't fix it…

Amazing that the most valuable company on the planet, in their own controlled ecosystem of hardware and software cannot get a simple download to their own device to work properly

Was there a quick way to determine which items were corrupt and not copied over to your ipod?

There was some method discussed a few pages back. But the short answer is "no". No easy / quick way to determine them especially if you have a large library.

If you have a gmail accout I would recommend using Google Music. It's ugly and crude but at least it works...unlike iTM.

I, for one, will not be renewing this piece of garbage when renewal time comes. Really disappointed.
