Q: itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match

Signed up for itunes match with 2011 imac, latest updates of itunes and lion on mac and latest update on ipad 2.

Noticed during playback on ipad2 that LOTS of songs are cut off at the end...they end 15 - 20 seconds early, abruptly...not sure why?

Please help, thank you in response!

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1, 2011 imac, itunes match

I have the same problem, even when i fast forward a song to the end, itunes just skips to the next song. This happens both on my macbook and my iphone. Apple should do something about this.

I see I am not alone.  I just moved my music to a new computer and now all my devices my iPhone 4S, ipod classic and my ipad are now having this problem with songs cutting off.  For me it is very random which songs.  Apple needs to get on their square and come up with a solution that doe not require me to spend hour recreating.  I have over 6, 000 songs.  I don't have time to figure out which ones and why.

For you iTunes Windows 7 users, I tried many of the solutions listed here and was not able to find a solution when continuing to use iTunes. We have 70-ish GB of music living on a NAS.  I switched to MediaMonkey Gold. When I first switched, I had the same problem with songs chopped off, then a skip to a few songs later.  Same problem with .m4a and .mp3 files. Dang inscrutable.

Further research revealed Media Monkey allows different output plugins to be selected/configured as noted in following:  Opted for MediaMonkey WASAPI ouput (out_WASAPI.dll)  Tools > Options > Player > Output Plug-ins. I configured (click Configure button) so that crossfade is unchecked and Remove silence at begining and end of tracks is unchecked.

I built music library so the path to the NAS (read regular back-ups & hotswap HDD offsite storage) does NOT use drive [e.g. r:] mapped with Windows  (i.e. \\NAS\sharename\folder\itunes)  or where your music folders live.  Turns out we'd used iTunes to rip files (huge investment of time, no desire to repeat).  I did not have to re-rip anything...just pointed MediaMonkey to the existing share/folders when building the library.  Now using MediaMonkey to do ripping, storing up to NAS (requires thoughtful configuration).

iPod had been chopping/skipping too, same crap.  I reset my iPod, then synched it using the MediaMonkey drivers.  iPod also fixed.  Vehicle has an iPod interface which now plays and reads data fine.

I'm no professional but this approach has resolved the chop/skip problem. Not sure which of the changes fixed it, or if there are more elegant fixes.  Tortuous solution, but we are stable, skip/chop free and out of  iTunes weakly configurable architecture while not compromising big music library.

I was suspcious that it was software issue.  Our Sonos reading same files on NAS always worked fine.

+1 to this issue.  I am sad to say that I am almost ready to cancel iTunes Match.  The only reason I was using it was to sync my devices and now it has randonly ruined a lot of my songs.  I've tried deleting and re-downloading but seems the problem just comes back.  If it was not for the fact that I like to have some music downloaded to each of my devices when I cannot stream.  I'd cancel my subscription and just use Pandora.

I hope the Apple works out a resolution of some sort or some solid advice for repair.

+1 for the issue. I have it and it's the most annoying issue ever (together with the fact that we're at the sixth iteration of the OS and there's still no shuffle by grouping in the music player)

    Cheers,

Just got iTunes Match last week and experiencing the same issue.  It seems that the problem lies in the original conversion from CD to digital file.  I was running itunes on a PC in about 2006 when I made the conversion of all my CDs.  The songs converted to about 86kbps bit rate, which the cloud cannot match for whatever reason. Conversion to mp3 bumped them up to 160 kpbs, but created the problem of songs being cut off half way through on iOS devices.  The most direct solution I found was go into itunes, highlight the album in question, delete from HD and hide in Cloud, and put in the original CD.  This is not the quickest method, but it does match the songs at 256 kbps even from ripped and very old CDs.  You can automate this process through options, but you still have to swap out the cds out of the drive every 5 min or so.  Any CDs added after I got my iMac in 2008 matched perfectly.

Now, paying 25 dollars a year for music you already bought only to have to reconvert it manually is a little ridiculous and I am really disappointed in Apple for dropping the ball on this, but we have 5 iOS devices alone and all that time is worth having instant access to 80+ gb of music without having to pay for the large memory devices.

    Good luck.

I have this problem as well. iTunes match signed on in Dec and every since then random tracks end prematurely. 3 machines usung iTunes w cloud library- all updated to current software-OS- iMac, Macbook Pro and iPhone 4S. OH- and, 100GB of music, took 1.5 days for match to load library. Re-upload I guess but will take a while

Plus another. There seem to be many hacked off people on here who's library has been screwed up by iTunes Match.

I'm not a techie, I don't have time for this. I pay £21.95 a year for Apple to totally F*** up my library. It was running fine until I had to rebuild my PC and reload, then to reinstall my music on 4 iOS devices.

I do feel that my next purchase will be a Windows media player.

I am having the same problem. I switched form PC to Mac about a year ago. since then many songs got lost and many chopped off.

I've tried uninstalling the songs and reinstalling,, it didn't work. I even rebought one of the songs, guess what? It was still truncated.

    APPLE THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Instead of maing new OS, make the ones you have work right.

Happens to me too on all my ios devices but my mac air is fine on same songs.

    I use iTunes Match.

Most frustrating, can't listen to an opera and have last few secs of many tracks truncated.

I don't subscribe to match but on my pc the songs play fine in iTunes and I have the same problem it seems like the file is on my iPhone 5 in its entirety but the song stops playing about halfway through it appears to be random I have wiped my phone and put my music back on via click n drag... Apple should at least acknowledge the problem and give us a fix its quite annoying to have an expensive phone that does not work as advertised.

+1 - same problem.  And, I don't use match.  I got a replacement phone, synched up, created a playlist and at least 30% of the songs cut off or don't play at all.  ***?

Apple, the number of known issues with iphones that you all are not addressing in a timely manner is becoming a very real, very big problem.  Please fix this.
