Q: itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match

Signed up for itunes match with 2011 imac, latest updates of itunes and lion on mac and latest update on ipad 2.

Noticed during playback on ipad2 that LOTS of songs are cut off at the end...they end 15 - 20 seconds early, abruptly...not sure why?

Please help, thank you in response!

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1, 2011 imac, itunes match

+1 on the same issues. I have been having this issue ever since I upgraded to iTunes 10. Not a match subscriber. Seems like the same songs are repeatedly an issue and on all devices. Some songs will just stop playing but the progress bar indicates they are stil going until the end, other songs just quit nd the next song starts playing immediately, still others are a kind of combination of both (next song starts playing but itunes still shows the previous song and progress bar while the new song plays). I am not much into troubleshoting these types of issues, like others I really want Apple to find a fix and include it in the next update. Really frustrating that I can't get my library to play without songs cutting out at random places.

Apple, you are making a LOT of loyal users very upset at your broken product and you are not even acknowledging the isue. Get this fixed!!!

I skipped iTunes and put my music files directly on the phone and they work perfectly now. The problem seems to be iTunes.

Would you be kind enough to share the steps you took to do this?

I'm having the same problem.  I also note that the play count and the last played do not update for the cut-off songs.  I use those in playlists so I can preferentially listen to things I haven't heard in a while.  Since these cut-off songs don't update they constantly repeat (my household now calls them repeaters).  I finally had to ban Alicia Keys because she repeated so much (NY 2012 Benefit album is all repeaters).

Must be itunes match as it hasn't shown up on 2 of my computers that don't have match turned on.  Everything with match on has the problem which seems to be getting worse and worse.

What if we all demanded our money back for match from Apple? Maybe then they would be motivated to fix this.  It is a major headache.

Solution demands the re-build of the library files on iTunes, followed by removing all Music from the iDevice.

To rebuild the library, follow these steps:

    0.  Create secure backup of all Song files

    1.  Sign-out of iTunes Store and exit from iTunes

    2.  Navigate to iTunes music library.

         a.  Move iTunes Music Library.xml to the desktop

         b.  Delete iTunes Library.itl

    3.  Launch iTunes, choose File, Library, Import Playlist & select iTunes Music Library.xml from Desktop

To remove music from iDevice, follow these steps:

    1.  Disable iTunes Match;

    2.  Under Settings, General, Usage, Music, swipe All Music & select delete.

Now restart computer from cold, launch iTunes, sign-in to iTunes Store and restart iTunes Match - allow process to complete before re-enabling iTunes Match on the device.

We have seen this "solution" many times, but the problem still exits for many users.

And the problem is more fundamental, this is a bug in the iTunes code. Many users (like me) using AppleTV, and problem is exists there. We cannot delete anything form AppleTV.

I am very frustrated about to massive silence of Apple.

MUST READ FOR ALL WHO EVER POSTED ON THIS BLOG...MY CONVERSATION WITH APPLE

My name is Peter A and I responded to this blog over 1 1/2 years ago with this same problem.  I never figured in my wildest dreams that this problem would continue this long...not with Apple.  I developed the problem of songs being cut short after I did an Apple Itunes update in November 2011. The problem was on my computer and my Iphone. I read on this blog a solution where I deleted over many hours each affected song.  I have been terrified to update my phone since and have not for fear of it occurring again.

Since that time I have followed this blog wondering when Apple would address it.  Today I found out the answer!!!!

I called Apple support and was put in touch with a tech.  He was not familiar with the problem.  I had him come to this cite and read some of the comments.  He immediately was concerned and wanted to put me in touch with a Senior tech person to discuss the problem.  He put me on hold for 5 min.. He came back on the line and informed me that the Senior tech person would not talk to me.  I asked my Apple tech person if the Senior person was aware of this issue and I was informed he/she was. I asked if a solution was at hand and if they could let me know when.  My suddenly less helpful Apple tech responded that no further communication about this would occur with me.  I asked my Apple tech person if a fair assumption is because they don't know how to fix it.  He responded yes.  He did say that the listed fixes on the blog do work.  Of course, this involves hours of deleting and re-downloading the corrupted songs.

My Apple tech also said that these blogs are monitored by Apple and that some of the solutions listed on the blog were probably written by Apple tech's.

BOTTOM LINE:  Apple doesn't know how to fix this issue or they would of.  So instead of admitting a problem exists, they ignore it.  Pretty sad!

Probably complicated by the fact that not everyone is having the problem.  I have iPads, iPhones, and Apple TV which all share a match library. I had the problem and deleted my playlist.  Reloaded library to PC and let the libraries rebuild to phones and iPads with new playlists.  I have not had a cutoff in months.

Just complete the 'Computer' part, the Apple TV will recognise the difference in the library and act accordingly.

Really strange, Apple are usually very good at working the issues.  Suggest a visit to your nearest Genius bar would be worthwhile - perhaps with a record of this thread to hand as illustration.

None of the proposed solutions has worked for me. My libraries are too big to go through each song. I believe the best option is for all users of this flawed service is to turn off the auto renewal feature. Apple makes it difficult to cancel this service, but anyone with knowledge on how to cancel this service many of us would appreciate it very much.

+1 for me and it's happening on my iMac truncating the last fifteen or twenty seconds of a track and then jumps to the next on a ripped CD album - I'm not a member of Match.

But if I keep hitting the same track and slide the progress indicator to the point just before it cuts a couple of times the bit that's missing plays. then when I play the track again it clips it again  So, the track is there the data is there but it's as if iTunes thinks crossfade is on and cuts to a new track - or iTunes just gets bored....

Having the same problem for the first time.  I tried converting my mp3s to m4a files and it fixed it.  It's easy enough to do with a free program like "Switch." I was only having this problem for new music I was adding (old stuff in my library isn't affected) so it wasn't too hard to just convert those new albums quickly - would be more of a hassle for an entire library
