Moved one of those monitors just yesterday!  SuperMac was know for large monitors that ran off NuBus cards.  I would start by removing the card and reseating it a couple of times.  You may have a bad connection.  Otherwise, some component may have failed and it is improperly scanning the bottom of the screen.

While you still have the top half, go into the monitors settings and identify the screen resolutions that are available and/or in use.  If the monitor dies, you will have to zap the PRAM to reset the monitor settings to a new monitor, unless you have an exact match with which to replace the old one.

Name a large city near you and maybe we can identify a mac user group in your area.  I helpped a client move several hundred large monitors a few years back.  I do not know if he still has the monitors but there were several SuperMacs in the collection.

    Good luck,

    Hold it!  Even better.

Your suggestion re: monitor settings has cleared up the whole problem.

Changed Monitors Colors Settings from 256 to 16.  All vertical lines disappeared.  It must be  a miracle.

    Thanks a bunch.

By the way, Appaloosa, aka Ji~m.    I would like to hook up with an Old Mac user-group near Toledo, Ohio.  Do you know a contact?

    Hi,

I'm a neighbor of Jim's--we live only 70 miles apart--so I'm sure he doesn't mind an assist. He's helped me a number of times.

I was ready to give you the ultimate link for finding user groups by area. However, the link to that function is kaput. I googled "mac user group ohio" and found several active groups. One has a site here:

    North Coast Macintosh Users Group

and meets in Strongville. Don't know if that  is close as I've spent very little time in Ohio.

Still a link like that can be useful even if its not nearby--you can contact them and ask what groups they know of in your area. Most groups in a state know who is meeting where.

    EDIT: just found another link:

    Allan,

Thanx for jumping in.  We are in the middle of a move.  We are working on two locations for making our Mac collection available to the public.  One is a youth group that meets Monday nights. We are building a working museum in one location and a hopefully a science exhibit in another.
