my ipad is downing things on its own like clicking on links, opening new apps, calling people on facetime and etc. The weird thing is that i my hand wasn't even anywhere near the thing. What is wrong with it??? Is it a malfunction or what?

Try to reset your iPad, hold down sleep and home button till Apple logo appears, hope that works

Hope it's under warranty still, I think you should that it to Apple. Sounds very strange.

That's as crazy as your iPad, talk to them in an Apple shop.that's free.
There have been some other users that have reported this weird behavior over the past year. You could try restoring to factory settings but - I agree with Marian. I believe that your best bet would be to make an appointment at an Apple Genius bar and let them see this strange behavior. From what I can remember - it turned out that there was no fix for this "phantom touching" and the iPads had to be replaced.
Someone else may come along with another idea - and for your sake I hope you find a fix here, but I wouldn't put too much time and effort trying to find a solution on the internet before I would head down to the Apple Store. - just my opinion ...
Now the ipad is constantly opening apps all over the place!!!! I THINK SOMEONE FROM "APPLE" SHOULD CONTACT ME, BECAUSE THIS DEFFINITELY IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE PRODUCT. I cann't even use the dam thing now because it just keeps on clicking random things alll the time......................../
Also you could restore your iPad, that could be the answer.
