That's right, you can't delete photos individually. You have to delete the entire photo stream. Log onto iCloud.com from your main computer and click on your username. From there, click Advanced and you will be presented with an option to delete the photo stream.
Photo stream will automatically purge photos as they come to 30 days old. You don't have o do anything. This gives you 1 month to save your photos to a personal album that you create.
And how do I delete photos from the album created on my iPad??

You can only delete photos that were taken with or added to the iPad with the camera connection kit or via email or screenshot. IYou cannot delete phortos that were sync'd to the iPad via iTunes.

I now know how to delete photos that were synced from your pc.
1 open My Documents where you keep your pictures you wish to add/delete on your pc
2 create a new folder and call it ipad photos(or similar)
3 click and drag any photos you wish to put on your ipad from My Pictures to the new ipad photos folder
4 Remove/edit any you do not want
5 Close My Documents
6 On your pc open i tunes
7 click on devices in the left hand column
8 at the top where it says sync from, choose the folder you have just created ie. ipad photos
9 tick the boxes of all the pictures you wish to transfer
10 Click apply in the bottom right
Now whatever is in the ipad photos folder will now be on your ipad. If you wish to remove them later, just delete them from your ipad photos folder and sync again. Easy when you know how,.
Many thanks to the Apple support chap who patiently talked me through it.
