Can I register apple ID without credit card?

Or, just download a free app from the app store and select no credit card on the payment page.

I have the exact same problem, when I first created the account, the "none" option wasn't there. So, I have an apple ID, but it doesn't work with the app store, and has no card attatched to the account. When I try to log into the app store, it doesn't give me an option to select "None"

I'm having the same problem, I registered an Apple ID to setup iCloud on a new MacBook Pro, and I do not have the option to select 'None' for payment type. Being this is a business computer, any purchases need to go through normal purchasing proceedures, then an approval to purchase software is given and a credit card or other payment can be entered and used. But at the moment I can not even update iPhoto and other software that came preinstalled, as I can not get past the credit card window.
