I wish to transfer data from a G-Drive external HD to a Lacie Rugged external HD by way of my Macbook Pro. I know that there is a proper (and simple) cable set-up for this routine function, but I don't remember what it is. Can anyone assist? Thanks.

Connect Both Drives to your MBP... Then Drag and Drop what you want from the G-Drive to the LaCie...
I appreciate the assist, but I remember the 1-2-1 rep explaining a set-up which had the 1st external drive connected to the Macbook Pro and the 2nd drive connected to the 1st external drive. I guess I can play around, but wanted to avoid an inadvertent problem with one of the drives by doing so.
What you are referring to is called Daisy Chaining...
Are both the Drives Self Powered... are they both USB or Firewire...
Yes, both self powered and both either USB or Firewire (though it was recommended that I use Firewire over USB). When we did this previously, it was via Firewire that both drives were daisy chained (yes, I remember this being the term).
OK... Firewire is best...
Connect the G Drive to the MBP and then the LaCie to the G Drive and when they appear on your desktop, away you go...
When you have finished be sure to Eject the drives correctly...
First the LaCie and then the G Drive...

i tried this before but did not notice a significant change in the speed of the transfer. is there any other reason why this set up is favorable apart from trying to transfer faster? just common knowledge question from an IT dude. TY in advance

@realhiphop0331: I'm not qualified to answer your question, though for me it's a matter of manually backing up to 2 external drives...I now only use my laptop as a machine & keep very few files on this HD. By daising chaining, an extra step is removed by having to copy from 1 external drive to the laptop and then recopy from the laptop to the 2nd external drive. I do believe that I remember the 1-2-1 rep also saying that it's a bit easier on the laptop's drive to daisy chain.
Beyond on this answer, I'll have to leave it to the pros to respond.

just to clarify one point for you...
If you were to Not Daisy Chain and just connect the 2 Drives Directly to your MBP...
There is no need to copy the Files to the MBP... you can just Drag and Drop from Drive to Drive...
