"App Store Beijing" Credit Card Fraud

I've searched online to see if anyone else had a recent credit card number stolen for several $100+ purchases from "App Store Beijing"

I'm trying to find out if it's even relevant to the Apple App Store, or if it's just a fake company name.

I recently had several charges to make bank account of $103.20, which I quickly noticed and contacted my bank about the incident... they've currently frozen my account and have sent me a new card.

Not saying that it's tied with the incident, but I find it ironic/amusing that I recently visited a local chinese take-out for the first time just two days prior.

I actually started this thread to see who else was having this issue:

  1. Were they named "App Store Beijing" after the pending charge expired?
  2. Are they credit cards that you had tied to your Apple iTunes account?
  3. Anyone else visit a local chinese take-out prior to the fraud (I know this one is a stretch)

I would say the number could've been stolen from a transaction from prior years, however I had JUST received my new card from a prior fraud with a hotel in Colorado.

Nope, purposely kept my previous card out of the loop of any gaming companies, mostly because of the continued PS Network breaches

Having the same experience here this morning, already called my bank, that's where I found out it went to Beijing, on my online banking it said APP STORE B with no country, two charges a piece for $52.xx and $103.xx. The latest apps I have gotten were Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope Free, Paper Toss, Talking Santa, AFV, FaceGoo, Pacman, MathBumpHD, Sketcher, Pet Shop, Netflix, and Talking Tom apps, can you tell I have a 7-year-old that plays on my phone. I do have in-app purchases turned off and have for some time so I don't think that was the case. The bogus purchases did not show up on my iTunes purchases though. Went in and took my credit card info off of my iTunes account, not that it is any good now, and changed my Password. Will start using iTunes cards when I want to purchase something, what a shame though, I thought Apple's security on their apps would be pretty tight.

@ Tommy: Well there's one common ground- mine was also associated with Netflix... anyone else? As if Netflix needs more problems on their shoulders. Can't say I've seen any news about them having a breach....

So you didn't have a card on file with iTunes? And hopefully your bank is quick on a refund... mine told me about 7 business days, so probably sometime next week. I alrady had to put off my business trip this week because of this...
