iPod Touch 4th Gen Crash

I have a 4th Generation iPod Touch that I purchased at release. I have upgraded to the newest iOS (5.0.1) when it came out but I am having the same crash problems that I've had since before iOS 5. What happens is when I am using several applications the screen goes black when it might be bogged down, and kicks me out of the app and back to the springboard. This happens on large apps like Infinity Blade and smaller ones like 99 reddits (when just swiping through some simple pictures). Now I've restarted the iPod Touch several times, and stopped all background apps, and it still happens. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and how to fix it. I just called Apple Support Express and the tech didn't have any idea what was wrong. He suggested to wipe the iPod clean and start over...which I ended up doing when upgrading to iOS 5. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
