I had my iphone in the magazine pocket on an airplane an put my baby's milk bottle in the same pocket. I later realized that the milk spilt and the iphone was sitting in a small pool of milk. The phone works, but now the speakers sound muffled and not sure if it is permanently damaged, or if there is a way to clean it out or fix it.

put it in a bag of rice ziplock it. let the rice absorb it for 8 hours.

One clarification - this happened 5 days ago. The phone is dry. I have dried milk in the speakers (or at least on the speaker screen/cover).
Another clarification. There is only one speaker. And the microphone.

Did what work 5 years ago. Most likely the phone needed to be replaced due to the damage done.
How did you fix it
Since there has been no response from the original poster in the past 5 1/2 years, it is unknown how this was resolved. As I noted back in March, most likely the phone was replaced.
